If you had told me a few years ago that I would leave my 8-to-5 desk job and become a Realtor, I'm not sure I would have believed you!
But in 2023, I decided it was time for a career change.
At that time, I was working as a Customer Service Manager for an Equipment Finance company. While I had gained valuable experience and enjoyed working with people, I felt like I was ready for something more. I wanted a career where I could truly connect with others, make an impact, and help people through some of the biggest moments of their lives.
So, I decided to hang up my hat in the corporate world and take a leap into real estate!!
Maybe, Just Maybe HGTV Had Something to Do With It...
If I'm being honest, my love for real estate probably stated long before I even became a Realtor. I grew up watching HGTV and was always fascinated by homes, renovations, and the excitement of turning a house into a home.
Then came our first home!
My husband and I purchased our first home and completely renovated it, and I loved every part of the process! From imagining what the home could become to seeing the finished product, it was exciting to create a space that was truly ours.
I also remember the feeling of buying our first home-- the excitement, the nerves, the possibilities, the dreams, and that moment when you realize, "This is ours!"
Later, we sold that home and purchased our current home, and once again, I experienced all the emotions that come along with such a big move.
That feeling is something I truly wanted to help others experience.
Taking the Leap Into Real Estate
I started my career with Summit Real Estate in Grand Island, and I dove in headfirst!
In the beginning, I wanted to learn everything I possibly could. I joined other agents at appointments whenever I had the opportunity, asked questions (maybe too many), met new people, and soaked up as much knowledge as I could.
My days looked a little different than in my previous career-- and honestly... I loved it!
I quickly learned that real estate is about so much more than houses, contract, opening doors, and putting a sign in someone's yard.
It's about people.
It's about listening to their stories, learning what important to them, understanding their goals, and helping them take the next step.
I was incredibly blessed in my first five months to help 12 people buy and sell real estate. That was such an exciting start to my career, and from there, things continued to grow!
Always Learning and Growing
One thing that is incredibly important to me is continuing to learn and grow as a Realtor.
Outside of working with my clients, I serve on the Grand Island Board of Realtors. Staying involved and keeping up with what is happening in our industry is important to me because the more knowledgable I can be, the better I can serve my clients.
I also serve on the Professional Standards Committee at the state level, which goes hand in hand with our Code of Ethics.
I truly believe in leading from the front.
I want to be a resource for my clients, a trusted professional in my community, and the best Realtor I can possibly be. Real estate is always changing, and I believe it's important to continue learning, growing, and finding ways to better serve the people who trust me with one of the biggest decisions of their lives.
My Favorite Part? The People
As much as I love homes, real estate, and maybe watching a little HGTV from time to time, my favorite part of this career is the people I get to meet.
I love getting to know my clients.
What do they love about their current home? What do they wish they could change? What does their dream home look like? What are their goals? Where do they see themselves in the new few years?
Everyone's story is different.
And that's why I believe real estate should never be a one-size-fits-all experience.
The more I get to know someone, the better I can understand what matters most to them. From there, I can use my knowledge, experience, and resources to help guide them achieve their real estate goals.
For me, it all starts with building a relationship.
The Best Part of the Job
There are some moments in real estate that just never get old.
Handing a buyer keys to their new home.
Watching the excitement on their faces.
Making the phone call to a seller and saying, "Congratulations-- we are closed and your home is sold!"
Those moments are the reason I took a leap of faith and started this career.
Buying or selling a home is a BIG deal. It can be exciting, emotional, overwhelming, and sometimes a little stressful-- but you don't have to navigate it along.
I truly love helping people through the process, answering their questions, celebrating the big wins, and being there from beginning to end.
Real estate has given me the opportunity to meet incredible people, build meaningful relationships, and help my clients through some of lifestyle biggest transitions.
And honestly... I can't wait to see where this journey takes me next!
If you're thinking about buying, selling, or simply have questions about the real estate market, I would love to connect with you!
Because at the end of the day, real estate is about so much more than buying and selling houses. It's about people, relationships, new beginnings, and helping you find the place you're excited to call home.
